  • DANIELLE MOODY - CO-PRODUCER

A perfectly flawed kaleidoscope of innate creativity, vivid dreams, personal experiences and untold stories, Danielle S. Mooney (Norfolk State University, BA | Columbia University, MSW) is a black queer femme storyteller and emerging filmmaker originating from the home of Go-Go, Mumbo Sauce and the original HU. She is hoodborn, and often adjacent or other. With a focus on the complex and diverse experiences of African-American women who are usually late bloomers, she creates authentic, nuanced untold stories about inner healing, self-discovery, intimacy and how people relate to themselves and the world around them.

Danielle has studied film production in NYC at BRIC & Independent Film School. Some of her credits include: webseries Dekalog: James & Danielle (Co-Writer), short film Hannah’s Little Secret (Producer), feature Water in a Broken Glass (Co-Writer/CoProducer), and webseries Finding Me: The Series (PA). When creating, Danielle’s intent is personal and world healing by challenging how we see ourselves and each other. She currently curates virtual writing dates for writers who need accountability and community during the pandemic. She is also writing her first short film about generational trauma and suicide, as well as a queer love story while working to launch Savage Wallflower, a space for black creative outliers to evolve, create and prosper.

  • Similejesu (Simi) Sonubi - Associate Producer

Similejesu (Simi) Sonubi is a graduate of Georgetown University who majored in African American Studies and minored in Film & Media Studies and African Studies. Her work as a filmmaker focuses on creating stories and content about the black femme experience. Her previous work has dealt with mental illness in African immigrant communities. Similejesu is truly passionate about Nigerian affairs and culture, especially Yoruba history and culture. In her writing, she works to show women, especially mothers and daughters, in all the messy complexities of the world. Currently, Similejesu is looking to make connections with her peers to collaborate and talk about the latest movies and television shows. In addition to her daily screenwriting sharpening power hours, Similejesu enjoys improving on her drawing and animation skills. In the future, Simi hopes to continue writing and directing projects that speak to the black femme experience in both the American and African contexts. But for right now she is patiently waiting for the hiatus of one of her favourite comics to end.

Simi is currently searching for opportunities to work as an associate producer or as a freelance assistant for producer, writers, directors and animators.
